Goals & Objectives of the Black Minds Matter Competition
The Black Minds Matter Project serves as:
1.) a platform for Black students to design solutions to some of the most pressing issues that affect or threaten them
2.) a vehicle for students to be change agents for a better America, and
3.) a vehicle that allowed students to utilize and practice 21st Century Learning Skills.
One of the main goals is to increase the voice of Black students by ensuring they feel empowered to inform, influence and shape reforms, policies and practices from their perspective. A second goal of the project is to assist Black students to lead, be leaders and to advocate for themselves and others. The third goal of the project is to provide a structured opportunity for young people to partner with adults to create a safe, healthy, as well as supportive school culture and community.
