Black Students of California United

Day of Activism - March 11, 2022

Over the past few years, the BSCU has made it a point to advocate for Black students both in our local communities and also in Sacramento at our State Capitol. Currently in the State of California, African and African American students are the lowest performing sub-group per State reports ( cde.gov) and there is a need for additional supports for our students and the BSCU Day of Activism is meant to shine a light on that need, by having our student members, with the support of their Advisors, to meet with their local educational leaders and have a discussion on this issue.

Black History 365 Campaign

In June 2021, BSCU Youth Leaders voted to engage in a statewide campaign that involves advocating for Black history curriculum, Black cultural events, and resources for Black students beyond Black History Month.

On Friday, March 11, 2022, student leaders will rally at the State Capitol in Sacramento to meet with Black state representatives and raise awareness regarding their statewide campaign. We are asking all of our members to join us.
